【Super Introduction to the Cloud】Why the Cloud is the Choice Now - PrismScaler

1. Introduction

Hello! We are a writer team from Definer Inc. In this issue, you are wondering about the inexperienced/novice business person who is new to cloud computing. Let's take a look at the actual screens and resources to explain in detail.

2. History of Servers ~From On-Prem to Cloud~

Before the emergence of cloud computing, companies used to have their servers on-premise , meaning that each company had its own servers in data centers and other facilities. Even after the concept of cloud computing was proposed by Professor Ramnath Chellappa of the University of Southern California in 1997, the era of on-premises continued for a while. In 2006, nine years after the concept of cloud computing was proposed, the current leader in the cloud computing industry, Amazon Web Service (AWS), was launched. This was followed by Google Cloud in 2008 and Microsoft Azure in 2010. In Japan, the rise of cloud computing has been driven in part by the looming "2025 cliff," as pointed out in a report by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.   *What is the "2025 cliff"... The possibility that many Japanese companies have legacy systems remaining, which will become a stumbling block and cause economic losses of up to 12 trillion yen/year after 2025.   Cloud Timeline ✅ 1997 The concept of cloud computing is proposed by Professor Ramnath Chellappa of the United States. ✅ 2006 Amazon Web Service (AWS) launches services ✅ 2008 Google Cloud launched ✅ 2010 Microsoft Azure launched

3. What is the Cloud?

What is the cloud? Cloud computing is a service that allows users to use IT infrastructure (e.g., servers) as and when they need it, without having to own it.   A close example might be car sharing or shared bicycles. Traditionally, it was common for people to purchase and own their own cars and bicycles. (≒on-premise). In recent years, however, car sharing services have emerged, where people do not own their own cars and bicycles, but use them whenever they want and as much as they want. (≒Cloud)

4. Benefits of the Cloud

What do companies enjoy about using the cloud? Here are some of the benefits of the cloud, compared to on-premise.   Initial cost ✅ In most cases, cloud computing is free ✅ On-premises, the cost of purchasing server equipment, etc., is high    Running costs (operation and maintenance costs) ✅ Cloud computing is pay-as-you-go, so you only pay for what you use. ✅ On-premises: no cost to use servers, but data center maintenance costs, electricity, etc. are required    Lead time (time required) ✅ Cloud computing can be used as soon as the same day ✅ On-premise requires weeks~months to procure equipment   Scalability ✅ Cloud computing can be easily implemented by simply changing settings on the web screen ✅ On-premises, replacing or expanding servers requires a lot of time and money For these reasons, companies are adopting cloud computing.       On the other hand, on-premise also has the following advantages, which should be considered depending on the purpose and application.   Security ✅ Of course, the cloud also offers very high security. ✅ On-premise allows more flexible security measures to be implemented, such as physical access restrictions, since the equipment is managed in-house.   Customizability ✅ With cloud computing, there are some items that cannot be configured. ✅ On-premise systems can be freely customized.

5. Summary

This article summarizes the contents of this article. ✅ The cloud is a service that allows you to use IT infrastructure as and when you need it. ✅ Cloud services emerged more than a decade ago and are steadily gaining market share. ✅ Using the cloud offers benefits in terms of cost, lead time, and scalability.   Why not consider the cloud before the "2025 cliff" arrives?

7. About the proprietary solution "PrismScaler"

✅ PrismScaler is a web service that enables multi-cloud infrastructure construction such as AWS, Azure, and GCP in just 3 steps, without requiring development and operation. ✅ It is a solution that streamlines "automatic construction," "automatic monitoring," "problem detection," and "configuration visualization" related to cloud infrastructures, and takes over the tedious and difficult tasks performed by cloud engineers and SRE/DevOps engineers. ✅ It is intended for a wide range of usage scenarios such as cloud infrastructure construction/cloud migration, cloud maintenance and operation, and cost optimization, and can easily realize more than several hundred high-quality general-purpose cloud infrastructures by appropriately combining IaaS and PaaS.
